Israel has carried out airstrikes against targets in the Gaza Strip for the first time since an August truce.
Confirming the early Saturday strikes, the Israeli military said they were launched in retaliation for a rocket shot from Gaza into southern Israel on Friday. The rocket did not cause any injuries.
The military said the airstrikes targeted a "Hamas terror infrastructure site."
Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner, an Israeli military spokesman, said in a statement Friday that the "Hamas terrorist organization is responsible and accountable for today's attack on Israel."
Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian group that rules Gaza, fought a 50-day war this year in which more than 2, 200 people died, most of them Palestinians. The two sides agreed to a cease-fire in August.
